FOR EDUCATORS

Dear Educators—Let’s Bring Books to Life in Your Classroom!

At The Local Bookshelf, we partner with local authors to offer meaningful, engaging author visits—available in-person, online, or through personalized pre-recorded videos. These visits are a great way to inspire your students and connect classroom learning to real-world storytelling.

Our books are more than just great stories—they’re tools for learning and growth. With exciting plots, lovable characters, and thoughtful questions woven throughout, our titles spark imagination, build empathy, and encourage deep thinking and personal reflection. Each book opens the door to rich discussion and can easily be adapted into lesson plans across subjects like:

  • Social and emotional learning

  • Creative art projects

  • Nature and environmental themes

  • Self-care and mindfulness

Let’s work together to create meaningful reading experiences your students will remember.

BOOK AN AUTHOR VISIT FOR YOUR SCHOOL EVENT

Book an Author Visit to Inspire Young Readers

Bring the joy of books and big ideas into your classroom or library! Visit our Author Visit page to schedule a live, virtual, or pre-recorded session with a local author. It's a great way to celebrate reading, spark curiosity, and connect students with real storytellers from their community.

Led by Experienced Educators
Our team isn’t just passionate about books—we’re trained to teach them. Among our authors are professionally trained educators, including a certified librarian, with years of classroom experience. We understand how to engage young minds in thoughtful, age-appropriate ways.

Rooted in Real Experience with Kids
First and foremost, we’re moms. We know kids—how they think, what excites them, and how to nurture their imaginations. As authors, educators, and creative professionals, we bring curiosity, care, and play into every visit.
